"UNCOMFORTABLE" T-Shirt Out Now!
It's Egg again!
The "UNCOMFORTABLE" T-shirt is out!
Well that's quite funny, isn't it. UNCOMFORTABLE. Now why would you name a design, "UNCOMFORTABLE", won't that just make it seem like the shirt is UNCOMFORTABLE itself?
Maybe! 🙂
But HOLD ON THERE, give this egg a chance to explain their design process.
Uncomfortable is one of my very first designs I put on a shirt! One of the first things I thought of as I started designing, wasn't really to put uncomfortable. The image of the scattered trees on this T-shirt design is actually a picture I took of my backyard while thinking about how to properly line up the trees in the shot so I could get my thoughts across in the picture somehow.
No one really has to be a great photographer to get a good photo in my opinion. It's only the pure act of shooting an image that allows the viewer to see things through your eyes for one minute. But I digress!
Eventually, the original picture became a bit more sharper in contrast and monochrome:
I also took this picture in a time of deep reflection and a point in time where I was feeling really low in life, which eventually lead to the design name, "UNCOMFORTABLE". Well, what is that really? What is the feeling of being uncomfortable? Wearing socks and stepping into a wet puddle? The sound of someone scraping their nails on a black chalkboard? Or if we go a bit deeper behind slight "annoyances", what about willingly putting ourselves in situations that cause us "slight pain or discomfort"?
Now I know what you're thinking, "Egg, this is a very pretentious way of slapping a random word on a T-shirt and trying to frame it into a think piece".
MAYBE SO! ☝🏽 :O!!
But these are the thoughts my little egg brain thinks about when creating images from my mind's eye. And this process let to me thinking, "Well, I can't always stay in the same place and be comfortable all the time, or else I'll never grow!" So with one of my first designs and the start of a new project, I decided to be "uncomfortable" and express that in this design. The sharpness of the convoluted forest that just happens to be a simple picture taken in my backyard. The first step out of my house that is sometimes quite difficult for me to take being a reclusive homebody that gets lost in their own thoughts inside all day.
So I encourage YOU to perhaps think about what makes YOU uncomfortable and work through those energies to create something amazing within yourself. Only when we confront those uneasy, perhaps sometimes painful feelings can we truly open a path to healing and continuous growth.
